My E-Liquid Doesn't Taste Right

Having problems with the flavour of your E-Liquid?

There are several factors that can affect the flavour you're getting from your E-Liquid. We'll cover the most common causes in this article.

1. Vaper's Tongue

You might've heard of this phenomenon, but don't worry—it's nothing serious and will go away in time. You may experience a sudden loss of taste from your favourite E-Liquid, or you might notice that the intensity isn't quite there anymore.

Vaper's Tongue is common and is unlikely to last very long. In fact, there’s plenty you can do to put things right again.

We recommend reading our full article on Vaper's Tongue to get an understanding of what it is and how to "cure" it.

In short, take a break from the flavour you're vaping, drink water, brush your teeth or vape some pure menthol E-Liquid to cleanse your palate.

2. Airflow

If your tank or pod features airflow control, it could be that you need to adjust your airflow settings.

Having your airflow open too wide can mute the flavour, while having it too tight can also cause flavouring issues.

We recommend setting it about halfway, then adjusting it to suit your personal preferences.

3. Adjust Your Wattage Settings

If your vape kit offers adjustable wattage, it might be that you have the wattage set too low for the E-Liquid you're vaping.

We recommend looking at your coil's recommended wattage (which can be found either on the back of the box or in the product description on our website) and start from the lowest recommended setting.

From here, you can work yourself up until you find the sweet spot where your flavour pops. Remember to also adjust the airflow if your device has an adjustable airflow valve.

4. Check Your Coil

If you're experiencing a very muted, slightly smoky, or burnt flavour, it could be time for a coil change.

Sometimes, you have to change the coil much earlier than you'd normally have to, especially if you've been vaping sweeter E-Liquids with your current coil. Sweeter E-Liquids tend to build up a gunky substance around the coil over time as the sweeteners in the E-Liquid caramelise under the heat of the coil.
