Same E-Liquid, Different Colour

Difference in Colour Between E-Liquids of the Same Flavour & Brand

If you bought several bottles of the same E-Liquid and noticed that your juice varies in colour between bottles, there's no need to panic. "Steeping"—or, how long the flavourings and nicotine are left sitting in the E-Liquid base—determines the colour of your juice.

E-Liquids can vary in colour. Usually, older batches which have steeped for longer will be darker in colour. Nicotine level also plays a big part in the darkness of an E-Liquid. As a general rule of thumb, the higher the nicotine strength, the darker the colour. Similarly, the older the batch, the darker the colour.

A darker colour does not mean that the E-Liquid is bad or has "gone off." In fact, steeped E-Liquids are sought after, as they tend to have a stronger flavour. We have a page on E-Liquid Steeping on our website if you're curious to learn more.

It's also important to note that when we say "older," we do not mean old. All E-Liquids sold on our website have a printed expiry date on the bottle or label, and we do not sell E-Liquids past their expiry date.

Even so, you might have a bottle of expired E-Liquid and you're wondering, "Is Expired E-Liquid Safe?" The answer is generally yes, though the quality of the juice will degrade with time. Check for issues with smell, consistency, thickness, and separation. If the E-Liquid is simply darker and colour and there's nothing cloudy, floating, or visibly wrong with the liquid, it's likely safe to vape. There's no evidence that vaping expired E-Liquids is harmful.
