New vapers are sometimes concerned that their E-Liquid bottles have been opened when they notice that there is a gap between the tamper-evident ring and the cap on their E-Liquid bottle.

There are a number of different types of E-Liquid bottles using different variations of tamper-evident seals. These can vary from brand to brand and from batch to batch.

In this article, we will cover the most common type of tamper-evident seal and the reason why there is a gap between the ring and the cap. A childproof bottle cap consists of 2 parts, an inner part and an outer free-spinning part which can be turned freely without opening the bottle. This outer cap part can also be moved up and down to reveal the tamper-evident seal below.

The cap will not open until pushed down and twisted. When it's pushed down, the outer part will lock with the inner part of the cap, allowing it to be opened. This is what makes these bottle caps childproof, as they cannot be opened by simply turning the cap.

When the childproof cap is pushed down and twisted, the inner part of the cap will turn and detach from the tamper-evident ring's connectors to the to show that the bottle has been opened.

Conclusion: If there's a gap between the cap and the tamper-evident ring, this is normal and there's nothing to worry about. Inspect the connectors between the tamper-evident ring and the cap: if they aren't severed, your bottle hasn't been opened before.
